Oliver the bull and Bowser the pig
Oliver came
to live with Charley when he was only a small calf. His destination
was the slaughterhouse. Charley, never one to see an animal killed, took Oli into his arms and yard. Shortly thereafter,
Bowser, a small piglet, whose fate was going to be the same, joined
the big guy. Bowser ruled the roost. Oliver, the gentle giant, took
a lot of "lickings" from Bowser, but still was to be very attached
to her.
Several years ago a reporter interviewed Charley about the Shelter,
and she was standing a bit too close to Oliver's domain. So Oliver
decided to put his huge tongue right across the reporters face, who
almost had a heart attack. The photographer was filming this all
along, and it ended up in "The Funniest Animals" series on
television. So if you ever see this black bull licking a
photographer, you know its our Oliver. He was over 12 years old when
he died.
He was a very gentle and sweet animal. Bowser, well, she was a
stubborn critter, but also was very intelligent. Oliver was her best
pal. We will miss them!
