Christopher, who’s about eight years
old, is one of the funny-foot family Charley’s Strays took in in
1998: Christopher, his sister who lives in Waterville, and their
pregnant mother, Roo. Three of Roo’s babies from the litter she had
five days later are still in foster-care: One is in Vassalboro and
one is in Anchorage, Alaska. These cats all have misshapen feet and
front legs, so that they move oddly, but they speed around the room,
interact with other cats (who see nothing unusual about them) and
even claw the furniture. They have great personalities, and charm
everyone who gets to know them. Chris is the most outgoing of the
four. The two younger boys, Pooh (gray and white, much like Chris)
and Black Peter (black and white, with a more square face and a
coarser coat than his gray relatives), are wary of strangers and
hard to handle for trips to the vet, their sister Lisa (almost all
black) is shy, but gentle and easier to handle.
Charley’s Strays cats are available for placement as indoor cats
